"We need to make the most of the time we have — to live our lives the way we wanna live. Every minute... every moment, matters."
Name: Aerith Gainsborough | Birthplace: Icicle Inn |
DoB: Feb 7 1985 | Weapon: Various staffs |
Height: 5'4" | Blood type: O |
Early life
Aerith was born to the Cetra Ifalna and scientist Gast Faremis in 1985, shortly being captured afterward by Professor Hojo after her father's death. She was subsequently subjected to Shinra experiments in the company's pursuit to find the "promised land." Following Ifalna's escape with Aerith (aged 7 at this point), Ifalna died in the Sector 5 slums, leaving Aerith to be adopted by Elmyra Gainsborough. Elmyra is fiercely protective of Aerith which results in a tense agreement with the Shinra Turks, who continue to monitor her movements throughout her life. During this period of her life, Aerith spends a lot of time cultivating a thriving garden at her house and in the Sector 5 church, due to the lifestream-infused water that flows nearby.

Original FFVII events
Upon joining the group Avalanche to pursue Sephiroth, Aerith journeyed through various locations while wrestling with the profound weight of her identity and the immense responsibilities it entailed. As the group reached the Temple of the Ancients, Aerith used her powers to summon Holy in the City of the Ancients. Though she succeeeded in summoning Holy, she is tragically killed by Sephiroth. After Cloud defeats Sephiroth, Aerith acts within the lifestream to push back Meteor and save the planet.

Advent Children
In Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children, Aerith appears to Cloud in visions, prompting him to confront his need for forgiveness. She later aids him in battle to help defeat Sephiroth's reincarnation. She then summons healing rain over the city of Midgar to cure the inhabitants of Geostigma, an affliction caused by Mako exposure. She appears to Cloud one last time at the Sector 5 church, where she and Zack return to the lifestream together.
Remake + Rebirth
Final Fantasy VII: Remake expands the midgar section of the original game, diving deeper into character interactions and new story elements. It introduces the concept of "Whispers", fate, and possible multiple timelines. This results in significant deviations from the original, but it remains to be seen if Aerith can change her fate.
